Rounding the corner, the group discovers a pair of skeletons and in a booby-trapped satchel, finds a letter in Orcish they are unable to translate. Zola pockets it for later, quietly noting the ornate, jagged symbol on the corpses’ worn armor is the same one on the pommel of her mother’s sword.

Moving onwards, the group comes to a central tunnel surrounded by filthy waterfalls, at which point a sea-like swarm of rats begin to funnel in and attack.

Chapter Three: Sewers, Shards, and Leaps Too Far!

Our two would-be heroes are joined by Prya, an acolyte of the temple of Chauntea, initially with the plan to rob a potion-maker. When Prya is resistant to this morally-dubious mission, they instead refocus on the quest they were tasked with: finding out where the no-eyed, grey-skinned Grimlocks went, and recovering an item that their leader, a hooded figure, has stolen from Lord Cravern.

Zola, Scram, and Prya journey to the sewers via manhole, and following a trail of blood, navigate their way through the treacherous tunnels. There, they’re faced with their greatest challenge so far: crossing a 15- foot gap!

After an attempt to leap across and look impressive for Prya, Zola slips into the water below, attracting a crocodile. Zola immediately crits on the croc and spears its head with her sword, then climbs back up with the assistance of Prya. Zola decides to focus on getting Scram across and rolls him with a nat 20 like a bowling ball. With Zola distracted by Prya’s lovely-smelling hair, and trying and failing to use Prya’s rope as a lasso, Scram takes a break from playing bluegrass on the harmonica to activate the Wild Shard. At that moment, the Shard surges and creates a cloud of pixie dust, allowing everyone to float safely onwards.
